Test – Burglar Resistance of Building Components – DIN EN 1627 (Requirements + Classification)

DIN EN 1627 specifies the requirements for burglar-resistant elements of classes RC1 to RC6. The tests are carried out according to the standards DIN EN 1628, DIN EN 1629 and DIN EN 1630.

Every 9 minutes there is a burglary in Germany. Windows, doors and other building components are a popular target. The construction sector is therefore showing great interest in burglar-resistant products. Almost all products with security features are tested for burglary resistance in Germany by ift Rosenheim. At our locations in Rosenheim, we carry out tests on building components with dimensions of up to 5 m x 5 m. ift Rosenheim also tests windows and doors according to PAS 24, which makes it possible to export products to Great Britain.

Products in detail

The test can be carried out on the following products:

Pedestrian doorsets, windows, curtain walling, grilles and shutters

All advantages at a glance

On-site test of large-sized test specimens with dimensions up to 5 m x 5 m

Subsequent certification and possibility of receptacle in the KPK list of the police department

Timely issuing of test documentation and evidences

Testing Method - Burglar-resistant Windows and Doors

Testing burglar-resistant building components under static load according to DIN EN 1628 is the first of three test methods that the component must undergo. In this process, the test specimen is tested at various loading points (sash/leaf corners, filling corners and locking devices) using pressure pads and gap gauges.

The second test method for determining resistance under dynamic load according to DIN EN 1629 is a pendulum test with a 50 kg dual tyre impactor. The pendulum test is performed at different drop heights according to the desired resistance class.

In the manual test according to DIN EN 1630, the test engineer carries out a burglary attempt with a tool set specified according to the resistance class. The criterion is the so-called "accessible opening". At various points of attack, attempts are made to identify weak points. Should one be covered, a main test is carried out on a second undamaged test specimen. In order to pass the test, the resistance time specified in the respective class must be achieved.
