The broader political landscape has changed, and current events – such as the Berlin power cut and recurring extreme weather events – are shifting the focus increasingly towards security.

This is further reinforced by the KRITIS Framework Act, which sets out requirements for the resilience of buildings and, consequently, construction products. The ‘all-hazards approach’ applies, whereby all conceivable risks are taken into account, ranging from risks posed by extreme weather to sabotage, terrorist attacks and human error. Properties must undergo a critical analysis and be retrofitted where necessary.

Buildings of high material, human and intangible value, as well as critical infrastructure, must be protected with particular care, as the consequential damage caused by the failure of production lines or infrastructure is often immense.

Climate-related extreme weather events (heavy rain, hailstorms, strong winds and heatwaves) pose a widespread threat, and this affects more than just critical infrastructure. Investors and property owners, as well as banks and insurers, are therefore seeking structural engineering solutions to minimise risks.

Damage is a serious cause for renovation for residents, as well as for users of commercial property and infrastructure providers, and offers opportunities for innovative building products and thus attractive contracts.

Every building renovation is also a sensible measure to reduce the building’s carbon footprint through energy-efficient products, increase property value, accumulate ‘taxonomy points’ and improve comfort and safety. That is why building products must be sustainable, recyclable and safe.

The special show at ift Rosenheim demonstrates what recyclable, climate-resilient and safe building products look like, and how they are tested and labelled. The focus is on protection against extreme weather events and physical attacks, as well as recyclability and the reduction of CO2 emissions during the manufacture and use of building products.

3D-Rendering Messestand
3D rendering of the ift special exhibition at BAU 2025

Stand concept + presentation

The booth features fully functional products that allow visitors to realistically evaluate technical solutions.

PC terminals equipped with calculation and simulation tools, digital services, and experts from ift Rosenheim provide in-depth and detailed information.

Interactive zones attract additional attention in the exhibition hall, generate media coverage, and create a memorable emotional experience for visitors.

We are looking for the following exhibits for the ift Special Show:

  • Climate-resilient building products that offer better protection against climate-related extreme weather events (flooding, hail, heat, etc.)
  • Building products offering protection against physical attacks (burglary, vandalism, sabotage)
  • Building products and modules for serial and simple construction (Building Type E)
  • Technical solutions for building automation and smart homes
  • Digital planning tools, practical implementation of the digital product passport
  • AI applications (knowledge and material databases) for design and construction
  • Building products that make efficient use of resources, energy and CO₂ emissions, and are designed and constructed with a view to single-material demolition (circular construction)
  • Practical certification and assessment of sustainable building products to simplify sustainable building certification
  • We welcome additional suggestions (related to the topic)
