The broader political landscape has shifted and is being shaped by current events such as the Berlin power outage and recurring extreme weather events. In addition to the transition toward a sustainable and circular construction industry, public, commercial, and private buildings must therefore become safer.

Critical infrastructure, in particular, must be better protected against physical attacks (burglary, vandalism, and sabotage) as well as climate-related extreme weather events (hail, flooding, heat, and storms). The KRITIS Framework Act sets requirements for the resilience of buildings and, consequently, building components. The “all-hazards approach” applies, in which all conceivable risks are taken into account, ranging from natural disasters to sabotage, terrorist attacks, and human error. Real estate must undergo a critical analysis and be retrofitted as needed.

In addition, buildings are increasingly at risk from climate-related extreme weather events, such as heavy rain, hailstorms, high winds, and heat waves. The number of people affected is rising steadily, and people are seeking structural solutions to minimize these risks. Any damage is a serious reason for renovation for both residential tenants and commercial property users, and presents opportunities for innovative building products and, consequently, attractive contracts.

Every building renovation is a sensible measure to reduce the carbon footprint of the building stock through energy-efficient products, increase property value, earn “taxonomy points,” and improve living comfort. That is why building products must be sustainable, recyclable, and safe.

The Special Show at ift Rosenheim showcases what circular, climate-resilient, and safe building products look like, and how they are tested and labeled. The focus is on reducing CO2 emissions during manufacturing and use, as well as on protection against extreme weather events and physical damage.

Stand concept + presentation

The booth features fully functional products that allow visitors to realistically evaluate technical solutions.

PC terminals equipped with calculation and simulation tools, digital services, and experts from ift Rosenheim provide in-depth and detailed information.

Interactive zones attract additional attention in the exhibition hall, generate media coverage, and create a memorable emotional experience for visitors.

We are looking for the following exhibits for the ift Special Show:

  • Climate-resilient building products and glazing that provide protection against flooding, overheating, hailstorms, and other extreme weather events
  • Glass products offering greater resistance and protection against mechanical stress caused by extreme weather conditions and physical attacks (vandalism, burglary, sabotage, etc.)
  • Vacuum-insulated glazing (VIG) for the energy-efficient retrofitting of windows, doors, and facades, or lightweight large-format glazing
  • Adaptive sun protection (sun-control glass) and decentralized ventilation systems for nighttime cooling (ventilation) to prevent overheating
  • Sustainable and recyclable glazing with low CO2 emissions in accordance with the 9-R strategies
  • Renovation of existing windows (frames, hardware, and new glazing)
  • Recycling processes and concepts for reuse
  • Products in practical use, as well as innovative product combinations offering multiple benefits
  • We welcome additional suggestions (related to the topic)
