ift-Recommendation for Use

The calculation tool supports manufacturers, planners and tendering authorities in the selection of window and door properties regarding resistance to wind load, watertightness and air permeability.

Object, Use, Requirements

Germany is divided into different wind zones and terrain categories. Windows and external pedestrian doorsets in coastal areas must meet different specifications for watertightness, air permeability and resistance to wind load than those in inland urban areas, for example. Knowing the reasonable requirements is a prerequisite for the selection of the right construction elements that ensure living comfort but do not put too much load on the wallet.

In order to support manufacturers, planners and specifiers in the selection of window and door properties, ift Rosenheim has developed the calculation tool "Recommendations for use of windows and external pedestrian doorsets regarding resistance to wind load, watertightness and air permeability".

By entering the zip code of the construction project and the building height, the program calculates the recommendations for the requirements in a matter of seconds. This eliminates the need for laborious, time-consuming work with standard texts and tables. It is valid for all ready-to-use windows and external pedestrian doorsets, regardless of materials, designs, requirements and tests.

The programme saves laborious, time-consuming work with standard texts and tables and creates a clear document for the corresponding building project.

The program FE-14/2 is based on DIN 18055 "Criteria for the use of windows and external pedestrian doorsets according to DIN EN 14351-1" and DIN EN 1991-1-4 "Eurocode 1: Actions on structures, Part 1-4: General actions - Wind loads".
