R+T 2018 (27.2. – 3.3.2018)

Gates, automatic doors and shading devices are leading the way in terms of automatic drives and controls for the construction industry. This entails additional requirements such as functional and electric safety, which must be taken into account during planning and tendering. However, also fire safety and burglar resistance as protection against industrial espionage and high material assets are more current than ever. Therefore, the ift special exhibition “Comfort + Safety” in Stuttgart from 27.02. – 03.03. is presenting at the R+T world's leading trade fair for roller shutters, gates and sun p...

Individual evidence for “sustainable timber procurement“

With a new order of October 6, 2017, issued by the federal ministries of Germany, it is now possible to participate in public procurements for sustainable wood products without a complex certification (e. g. by the systems FSC® or PEFC™) but with an so called “individual evidence”. This individual evidence certifies that the used wood comes from sustainable cultivation and can be issued by the ift Rosenheim. Particularly for small craft and service enterprises as well as companies that only rarely carry out contracts for the public sector, the individual evidence is a cost-efficient and effecti...

The "Tested by ift" mark

The holistic testing and evaluation of products is a core concern at ift Rosenheim – entirely in the context of quality, fitness for use and long service life. This also includes the accuracy, reliability and comprehensibility of the ift tests on the basis of the technically standard-related fundamentals of the assessment of performance. The new "Tested by ift" mark is a novel service that leads via a QR code to the associated ift verifications with information on the product characteristics tested. In this way, it is used for "checking the authenticity" of the documents and establishes the eva...

Catalogue of standard con-struction "Sound" published for curtain walls

Specifications for airborne and flanking sound insulation of the building components are required for planning the building acoustics of buildings. So far, for curtain walls, this could be verified only on the basis of measurements in the laboratory or from examinations conducted directly on the building. So far, there has been no table-based method as in the case of windows. By formulating a catalogue of standard construction for curtain walls in the course of an ift research project, this "gap" has now been closed. The results have been summarised in the new ift expert information SC-11/1. Sp...

New Furnaces for the ift technology centre

With effect from July 2017, a large number of fire resistance tests and smoke tests have been conducted on doors, gates, facades, glazing or fire safety curtains in the technology centre – and, as a matter of fact, in accordance with German, European and international regulations. Apart from the 8 x 5 metre large furnace, even the proven 5 x 5 metre furnace from Nuremberg is now operational again. Starting from the beginning of 2018, two more furnaces will be added for load-bearing pillars, ceiling beams and floor structures as well as one small furnace. Together with the durability and smoke t...
