In addition to natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators (NSHEV) as per EN 12101-2, control equipment are also an important component of building safety. These form part of the overall security concept for the building and act as the actual control system for the NSHEV.

This certification scheme defines the procedures and requirements for marking control equipments with the "ift-certified" mark as per ISO 21927-9:2012. By introducing and applying the specified measures and tests, the properties of the control equipment verified during the initial test are permanently ensured.
