The durability of a building component is primarily determined by the used single components. All materials, which are necessary for the manufacturing of windows, doors, facades and gates, can be examined in the laboratory for material testing. Information for Visitors of Laboratory for Material Testing

The laboratory for material testing is with other laboratories at the ift-headquarters in Rosenheim. Free parking is possible in front of the building. Visitors are only allowed to stay in marked areas and outside of these areas they have to be accompanied by ift-staff and appropriate safety equipment is required. Entering the mechanical and the chemistry laboratory is only possible in exceptional cases with permission of the laboratory manager. Taking pictures or audio-visual material by camera or devices with photo function like mobile phones is prohibited in the laboratories.

In general, the building material test is quality control of building material, raw and auxiliary materials and intermediate products, as well as the suitability of floors for usability in structural or civil engineering. The building materials are tested in the laboratory or alternatively on-site. The evaluation is made by statistical methods on basis for measurement instrumentation data.
