Flooding of the basement or first floor can affect any homeowner or tenant and it can be life-threatening [1] when buildings "overheat" during heatwaves - as data from the German Weather Service (DWD) clearly shows [2].

The number of people affected by climate-related weather extremes is constantly increasing and people are looking for available structural solutions to minimize risks and prevent future damage. Every heavy rainfall, every heatwave and every hailstorm is a current renovation opportunity for property owners and an opportunity for innovative manufacturers and distributors of building products to win attractive contracts. However, good knowledge of sustainability, construction technology, climate safety and a high level of installation expertise are required.

Every climate-proof building refurbishment is also a sensible measure to reduce thecarbon footprint of the building stock, increase the property value, collect "taxonomy points" and improve living comfort. Anyone who only builds cheaply thinks too short-sightedly when making investments that will have an impact for decades and ends up paying more - according to the motto "Buy cheap, buy twice".

This is why building products must be sustainable and climate-safe. Grey energy during production and ease of repair, maintenance or replacement must be given a much higher priority - this applies to both new construction and renovation.

The special show by NürnbergMesse and ift Rosenheim therefore shows what sustainable, climate-safe and therefore future-proof building products look like and how they are labeled. The focus is on reducing CO2 emissions during manufacture and use, sustainable production, easy repairability and maintenance, and protection against climate extremes.
