Scope according to ISO 16283-1 (Chapter 1):

This part of ISO 16283 specifies procedures to determine the airborne sound insulation between two rooms in a building using sound pressure measurements. It is intended for room volumes in the range from 10 to 250 m³ in the frequency range from 50 to 5,000 Hz.

Requirements according to ISO 16283-1 (Chapter 7):

  • General
  • Generation of sound field
  • Fixed microphone positions
  • Mechanized continuously-moving microphone
  • Manually-scanned microphone
  • Minimum distances for microphone positions
  • Averaging times
  • Calculation of energy-average sound pressure levels
