Testing of fire resistance according to EN 16034: Testing of pedestrian doorsets, industrial, commercial, garage doors and openable windows with fire resistance and/or smoke control characteristics
Since 01.11.2016, manufacturer can place windows, doors and gates with fire and/or smoke control characteristics as harmonized, CE marked fire/smoke control shutters in the European market with commencement of the new product standard EN 16034. Manufacturer, architects and assemblers have the possibility to request in tenders the European classes and verifications according to the new product standard. Products with CE mark or national marking can entry the market until 01.11.2019. After this coexistence period, only the CE mark is permitted.
Accredited testing of fire resistance according to EN 16034
ift Rosenheim was sucessfully accredited for testing of fire resistance according to EN 16034 and can issue necessary documents for the manufacturer as notified product certification body (NPC body). As an accredited and notified NPC body, ift Rosenheim has a profound product expertise and experience. In their position as specialist supervision for tests, classifications and surveillances, their specifications and statements have to be reliable as well as upon request of the market surveillance.
The „Certificate for the Confirmation of the Constancy of Performance“ is the basis for the declaration of performance as well as the CE marking and is issued by the NPC body after the manufacturer has successfully tested and evaluated the product and the initial inspection of the factory production control (FPC).

Scope according to EN 16034 (Chapter 1.1):
This European Standard identifies material independent, safety and performance requirements related to fire resistance and / or smoke control characteristics that are applicable to industrial- / commercial- / garage doors (as defined in EN 13241-1), pedestrian doorsets and openable windows (as defined in EN 14351-1 and/or prEN 14351-2).
