Daylight control systems

The company RETROSolar is known for special daylight louver systems with mirror optics, developed by Dr.-Ing. Helmut Koester.

RETROSolar delivers fixed mirror louver systems for the insulation glass industry as assembling sets or complete inserts. Furthermore, RETROSolar produces daylight Venetian blinds for external and internal use.

The intelligence of those systems is basing on special mirror contours to redirect sunlight in large room depth to support the daylight autonomy and/or to reflect the sun mono reflectively to outside in order to reduce the cooling load. Such intelligent systems can save up to 30 % of the total energy consumption in office buildings. RETROSolar is specialized in project business for office buildings, schools, museums, sports facilities, etc.


Product Description

25 mm RETROFlex blinds: mirror louvers with Fresnel optic

In the concave-convex slats a micro structured folding is embossed which follows the contour of a fragmented parabola with a light focus outside the building. The sun shining onto the louvers is reflected back into the sky without overheating the interior.

Main advantages:

  • retroreflection of the solar energy into the sky with horizontal, open blinds (very low SHGC-values),
  • due to the horizontal orientation of the louvers an excellent view to outside is achieved.
  • Diffuse daylight transmission - the interior is supplied with healthy, natural daylight.
  • This leads to energy savings in terms of cooling loads and electric lighting.

 

 

Daylight systems for insulation glass with bifocal mirror optics to support daylight- and energy management in glass façades

The systems are used for double and triple insulation glass. The louvers width is 12 mm.

Simulataneous advantages:

  • SHGC value 0.07 - 0.1 during summer with high angles of incidence
  • improved daylighting by redirecting zenith light horizontally into any room depth
  • achieving an open view between the single louvers of > 85 %.
