Conclusion Rosenheim Window and Façade Conference 2019

The motto "Windows for Future" was well chosen and attracted over 800 participants from 24 countries to the 47th Rosenheim Window and Façade Conference. Many presentations focused on climate change, as the effects of this key challenge affect the building sector in a special way. Prof. Dr. Claudia Kemfert (DIW) even described the window industry as a "double winner" because modern windows and facades contribute significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions and help to make buildings fit for the burdens of climate change. In his lecture, Prof. Ulrich Sieberath, Director of Institute, described...

New iftLAB in Arnsberg (NRW)

Lead expertise, speed and international recognition are important success factors for the development of components and accessories. This applies in particular to necessary tests for the development of new windows or doors as well as special solutions for demanding construction projects (company headquarters, hotels, public buildings, etc.). This is why the ift Rosenheim in Arnsberg (NRW) has set up an iftLAB together with Athmer in the "Technikum". In this test laboratory, preliminary tests can be carried out by the "Technikum" examiners as well as building law tests by the ift test engineers....

1st Architects' Day Windows + Facades on 23 January 2020 in Berlin

Nationwide, there is a bottleneck and a backlog of schools and day-care centers, which will keep builders, planners and construction companies busy for the next few years. According to new scientific and medical findings, the building envelope has a major influence on learning conditions, especially on acoustics, daylight and air quality. The planning, tendering and execution of windows and facades in these buildings are therefore challenging tasks. This is why the Berlin Chamber of Architects, the Beuth University of Applied Sciences, the ift Rosenheim and the industry associations are organis...

New ift test laboratory "Building acoustics + facades" in Rosenheim

Windows, facades, gates and prefabricated wall and floor elements are becoming larger, heavier and more complex. At the same time, the demands on sound insulation are increasing, especially for high-quality properties and buildings in noisy areas. In addition, there are new requirements for sound test benches. Similarly, heavy rain, tornados and hailstorms must be considered as consequences of climate change. For this reason, ift Rosenheim has decided to set up a new laboratory in Rosenheim on 1,440 m² for the testing of building acoustic properties as well as air permeability/ watertightness, ...

Status Product standard Interior doors EN 14351-2

The European Standards Committee CEN TC 33 has been informed by the EU Commission services that contrary to the previous information, it is no longer to be expected that the product standards for interior doors, EN 14351-2, will be published in the EU Official Journal in November/December. In concrete terms, this means that interior doors cannot be "placed on the market" within the EU with the CE mark until they have been harmonised. This also applies to interior doors as fire or smoke protection closures.   The background to this is that questions of a legal nature must be clarified wit...

Installation of windows and doors international

For the second time, the two-day seminar "Installation of windows and external pedestrian doors" in English will take place in Rosenheim. For window manufacturers, fitters and craftsmen from the window and door industry, the seminar offers many tips for the practical implementation of installation.   Modern window constructions offer optimum thermal, solar and sound insulation ...

Professional window installation with the ift-Installation Tool

The free online tool "ift-Installation Tool" enables assemblers, planners and installers to professionally plan the structural connection with regard to building physics, fixing and sealing. New are wall superstructures for refurbishment with optional reveal insulation. Planning is now also possible with manufacturer-neutral profiles made of PVC, wood and aluminium. Also for Austria there is now the automatic calculation of the wind load. The static dimensioning has also been adapted to ÖNORM. In addition to the product-neutral ift-Installation Tool, company-specific versions are also available...

Rosenheim Window and Facade Conference 2019

The commitment of many young people to climate protection and the results of the European election clearly show that the energetic refurbishment of our infrastructure has once again landed at the top of the agenda. That's why the motto of the 47th Rosenheim Window and Facade Conference "Windows for the future – smart, practical, climate-friendly" is at the centre of public debate. The Rosenheim Window and Facade Conference from 9th to 11th October 2019 will meet this challenge with a wide variety of innovative and strategic thematic lectures.   In 2019, Prof. Ulrich Sieberath will open t...
